Here’s a bit about James McGowan:

James has been a reader since his mother handed him the first A Series of Unfortunate Events book, and ordered the sequels regularly through Scholastic’s book orders. When he began reading to his nephews, he became more and more obsessed with picture books. He only realized he could be a writer after graduating college and an idea popped into his head…

Professionally, James interned at BookEnds as an undergrad in the summer of 2015, and has (basically) never left. He’s just continuously level-up-ed inside of BookEnds. Now he is the Literary Assistant and Social Media Manager for the team, and is working to build his own list in Picture Books, Young Adult Fiction, and Adult Mystery, Thriller, Suspense & Literary Fiction. You can learn more about his tastes here.

When not working, reading, or writing, he is likely watching an unhealthy amount of sitcoms, including Friends, Cheers, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, or whatever else he can find flicking through the channels.

You’ll find this website is a one stop shop to James as both an author and a literary agent. For more information on James as an author, visit the “Books” page.
